Happy Easter!

Remembering why we celebrate this day!!

Here is one of our favorite videos of "He Arose". These two little boys sound so precious as they sing the first Easter song I learned as a child. They are SO darn cute!

Artist in Training

My very proud little Artist
Tonight was the school Art Show. Everytime I walk into that school I am A*M*A*Z*E*D by the work the Art Teacher does with them. I have been in many schools over the years and never have I seen work like this produced by ALL the children. While I was there I tracked down the school Art Teacher and thanked her in person. I found out she is a professional artist who knows how to break things down into simple steps the children can understand. It was truly amazing to see all the beautiful work tonight. I was hoping to get some really good pictures from each grade but the girls kept running amuck so I had to snap pictures on the fly while trying to keep up with them. Enjoy the photos....the hydrangea paintings by the 3rd grade are TO DIE FOR!!

in my best Rachel Zoe voice, " I literally D-I-E-D" when I saw these hydrangea paintings

Farewell Discovery

Space Shuttle Discovery launching from Cape Canaveral, FL on it's last and final mission before being retired and placed in the Smithsonian.

February 24th, 2011

I know you all are probably laughing right now because I dedicated a blog to this but you know I love our Space Program and you know you all LOVE it when I drag you outside to watch one!! :) Though I never aspired to be an astronaut I have always been fascinated by the launches and am sad that the Shuttle Program is being discontinued. Discovery will be placed in the Smithsonian and the rest of the fleet will be sold off to the highest bidding countries (BOOOOOOOOOOO!) Sadly there are only two launches left before the program ends in June.

Treasuring the moment

Tonight Sarah has her first Father-Daughter Dance with her Daisy Scout Troop. Being the sap that I am, I was fighting tears HARD as we put on the fancy dress, sparkly shoes and yes (sigh) the light pink lip gloss. Wasn't she just a bald headed baby last year? Such a special night for her and Adam. :)

A picture is worth 1,000 words

ICE STORM 2011: This sums it up PERFECTLY!

Unfortunately all our "fun" snow quickly turned to a solid sheet of ice several inches thick so we've all had a bit of cabin fever. Walking to the neighbors is even a challenge because all the streets and sidewalks are like one big ice rink. We're on our 4th day of being stuck inside so hopefully the weather reports are correct and we start thawing out tomorrow. Until then. we'll try to all stay sane and play Pollyanna Whittier's Glad game.
I am glad that the power did not go off!
AMEN!

More Snow Pics

SNOW DAY!!!

Well, we got the snow we were all hoping for. We ended up with 5-6 inches here at our house. It was coming down like a blizzard last night before we went to bed and sometime this morning it began to turn to freezing rain. It is starting to sleet right now so the end result is going to be nasty but at least we were able to get out and play in the snow for a little while this morning. I forgot just how beautiful a good snowfall is. Everything is so peaceful and the only sounds you are hearing are the giggles from the neighborhood children sledding. So thankful for this beautiful snow and even more thankful for a wonderful neighborhood full of children!

Ready to make some snow cream!
