Tonsil update

We are on day 10 of our tonsil recovery and unfortunately Sarah is still in pain. She's being a trooper and doing her best to get some food down but the problem the past few days has been with nerve pain in her left cheek. Ironically she has had more pain from this than she has had with her throat. I took her in yesterday for the doctor to check her and he told us that there are nerve endings around the tonsil area so they can become very sensitive as that area is healing. We are all going stir crazy around her so hopefully she will heal quickly so we can get back to having some fun!

Potty Training

I have decided that since we are stuck at home for the week we may as well pick up our potty training again. This is already proving to be quite different from Sarah who potty trained completely in three days. I'm finding that Ansley will hold onto everything until after we get off of the potty. She doesn't seem afraid of it at all so I think it's more of a control issue with her. I've found that any type of underwear gives her permission to just wet her pants so we're on day 2 of no clothes but as of now.....still no luck. Any tips?

We are officially tonsil free now!

Well, we made it through! Everything went very smoothly at the surgery center and I am very encouraged with Sarah's recovery so far. I had not expected her to do anything other than take liquids today but as soon as we got home she asked for some pudding. It went down rather easily and now 2 puddings, 3 popsicles, 1 jello, and 2 bowls of ice cream later.....we are still going strong! She was even a couple of seconds away from jumping on the bed with Ansley until I reminded her that the doctor wanted her to take it easy for a couple of days so her throat could heal. Right now we are kicked back in the bed watching all her favorite movies and relaxing. I am very excited and so thankful for everyone who prayed for us. I KNOW it has made all the difference in her procedure and recovery so far. As you can see by the picture below....she's a pretty happy camper right now!

A night of beauty

Oh Lord, where do I begin with this? Ever have one of those moments when you know the house is too quiet? In our house that type of silence means that the girls must be up to something. Lately they have become a team and are playing very well together which I love, but it also means they can get into way more than they ever thought of getting into alone. Tonight Ansley was the lucky winner of the Sarah Bittner make-over contest. She has a full treatment of leave in hair conditioner along with being stylishly decorated with all the barrettes and hair clips they could find before being busted by mom. I coudn't help but laugh because Ansley is the QUEEN of BLING and she loved every minute of this make-over. As I am typing this, daddy is completing the makeover by painting both girls fingernails a lovely combination of hot pink and light blue. Maybe they will be the future owners of a high end salon, what do you think? :-)

It's official.....

We saw an Ear-Nose-Throat doctor today and he confirmed that Sarah's tonsils and adenoids must come out. The strep has buried itself deep in the pockets of the tonsils and has decided to just hide out for a while. None of the antibiotics have worked in killing the bacteria and he told us if we didn't have it done then we could expect it to be very tough on her in the future. From what I have heard it can be very rough on her, especially the first week so I'm praying she have a quick recovery. Right now she's extremely nervous about things so please remember her in prayer. They said I would be able to be with her while they are administering the anesthesia so please pray for me too....I tear up just thinking about it. Lord, I hope I make it through!! :-) Her surgery will be at 9:30 Monday morning and they said I should be able to take her home once the anesthesia wears off and she can swallow liquids. Thanks for the prayers and I will keep you all updated!

Our own "EE La-La Treebranch"

To give you a quick background on EE, we went to visit Wendy, Jamie, and Gracen a couple of months ago and Gracen had just gotten a hamster and named her Edie La-La Treebranch. Edie had lots of fun adventures while we were there but Ansley's favorite thing was when Edie rolled around the floor in her ball. Ever since our visit, any time Ansley sees a hamster or chipmunk on TV she will scream "EE!" One night she even woke up and started talking in her sleep saying "EE in ball" (referring to Edie's adventures in her rolling coach carriage ball.) The other day I stopped at a Cracker Barrell and lo and behold I saw this battery powered hamster rolling around the floor in this plastic ball. I knew it would be the perfect gift for Ansley and I wasn't wrong! She LOVES this thing!! I did a quick video clip and wanted to share it....Enjoy!

Sarah's Birthday

For Sarah's birthday dinner we went to her favorite restaurant, Cheeseburger in Paradise and she got her favorite meal....no, not a cheeseburger....a grilled cheese! Afterwards we came home and opened presents and had a small ice cream cake. It was the perfect ending to a perfect 5 year old day. Her friend party will be next week at Chuck E. Cheese so I guess we will celebrate until next week!

A Wonderful Mothers Day - 2009

(I know I'm late on this post but better late than never!)

This year was a very special Mothers Day for me. This was really the first year that Sarah understood what the day was about and she was SO excited! She woke me up around 6:45 that morning and whispered in my ear..."mommy, don't you want to wake up and see the present I have for you?" Just hearing those sweet words come out of her mouth is enough to wake me up at any hour. She proudly told me all about the card she and daddy and Ansley had made for me then handed me a gift bag. Inside was the perfume I had been wanting and when I opened it up, it had a very special message engraved on the outside of the bottle. I will cherish it forever!

Happy Birthday Sarah!!

It is so hard for me to believe that Sarah turns 5 today! She has been waiting for this day for a very long time and was so excited when she woke up today.
Happy Birthday Sarah, we love you SO much!!
