Ho-Ho-Ho - A visit with Santa

2007

Well, believe it or not I guess the Christmas season is officially here. I usually don't see Santa make his annual appearance until at least Thanksgiving but this year he's out early. We were on our way to the Stone Mountain Christmas Festival but had to make a quick stop at the mall. As luck would have it, Santa was there and there was no line. Since the girls were already dressed the part, I decided to go ahead and get our annual picture taken. This year was completely different from last year. As the pictures show, Ansley was not happy at all! She was more ticked off than she was scared and poor Santa got his share of kicks and head butts from her. Let's hope after that visit she doesn't go on his naughty list!!

Flashback Friday - 1983

Oh my goodness, where do I start with this one?? I was a HUGE fan of the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack when I was a kid. My Nana would put the album on for me and would go take a nap. I would listen to it ALL AFTERNOON and never get sick of it. As I got a bit older they came out with the sequel and of course I LOVED this theme song. Recently I heard it on satellite radio and had to dig it up. I have to also admit that when I hear this song it also reminds me of the Saturday Night Live skit with Martin Short doing his synchronized swimming routine. I tried to find the video clip but had no luck. Enjoy!

A ride on The Pink Pig - An Atlanta tradition

Macy's Pink Pig (Priscilla) has officially made her debut this year. I took the girls to the mall this afternoon and they had their very first ride on her. This tradition started back in 1953 in Rich's department store in downtown Atlanta but now Priscilla resides outside Macy's at Lenox Square Mall. The girls and I had a blast and we look forward to continuing this holiday tradition for many years to come. Now we can officially say....WE RODE THE PINK PIG!!

Well, it's been over a week since I've blogged so I figured I better get something up and going before I abandon this project! The past week has been too exhausting with all of the election stuff and mentally trying to recuperate from the busy month of October. They are now starting to play christmas music in all the stores....starbucks has the red cups out, everything is all about Christmas now so I figured I better go get pictures made. The girls did pretty good this year until about 5 minutes into the shoot. Then Ansley decided she was tired of sitting still and smiling. She did however have fun saying Ho-Ho-Ho throughout the shoot. Better get your lists ready folks....Christmas is a coming!!

The end to a L-O-N-G Day!

Today seemed like the longest day ever and it is finally winding down for us (8 pm!) Sarah's class had a party today so she got to wear her costume to school all day. When we arrived at 1 pm for the party, they were out on the playground so you can only imagine the shape their costumes were all in. Sarah was a pink bunny this year and her ears and tail had both been ripped off. Fortunately we were able to reassemble everything and make it through the evening still looking like a pink bunny. This year Ansley was a pumpkin and she wasn't he least bit shy to run up to a door and reach her hand in the candy bowl. I handed her a twix to keep her busy then noticed she had chewed through the wrapper and eaten half the candy bar. She wasn't wasting any time! Our neighborhood this year is the perfect size so we came home with just the right amount of candy (last year it was insane what we got!!) Sarah came home and decided to count out all her candy. Who says Halloween can't be a teachable moment? :-) We were able to meet several of the neighbors and we loved seeing all the little ones dressed up. We all had a great time and look forward to next year.

Flashback Friday - 1983 - THRILLER

Someone brought it to my attention that this is the 25th anniversary of Thriller and no video list would be complete without it. One day I WILL learn this whole dance. Maybe next year I will post it...NOT!

Our Happy Pumpkin

Pumpkin carving 101

Our happy pumpkin 2008

Ansley after we told her not to touch the pumpkin

She didn't listen

Our very first "happy" pumpkin
2004

This year Sarah's class carved a pumpkin at school so she was excited to get home and carve one herself. You see, at school they took a vote on what kind of face to put on the pumpkin. Out of 20 students, Sarah was the only one who wanted to make the pumpkin happy. Everyone else wanted to make him spooky and scary. She must have talked about this for 15 min. straight when she got home from school yesterday so obviously it bothered her that no one wanted a happy pumpkin! I told her that I was a fan of happy pumpkins too and showed her an old photo of our first happy pumpkin. This year she wasn't into the gooey part but once we got it carved and lit, she was very happy. Unfortunately, Ansley missed all the action because she was sleeping but she was able to participate in seeing our little pumpkin all lit up. I think she was the most excited out of everyone because all she did was squeal and point at our little pumpkin friend. This was definiely a fun year for pumpkin carving!
